I Like the Way You Smile

My favorite snapshot of the weekend. Sure wish it didn’t have to end.

Flashback

With two consecutive posts on the bovine sort, it would appear I’ve got cows on the brain. It’s that time of year I guess. This calf had a bit of a rough start and was bottle fed. Of course I was more than happy to oblige in that department. Despite the photo’s blurry quality, it will always remain one of my favorites.

My sister and I are in what I call our “Daphne and Thelma phase” - you remember, from Scooby-Doo. However our Mystery Machine was green and yellow, took the form of a tractor, and had the name John Deere on it. :)

May your holiday weekend be a memorable one!

175 Cheers for Lamont

It was everything an historic celebration should be and then some. I don’t think the little village of Lamont has seen this much commotion….ever. Happy Birthday!

Flashback

I remember this parade like it was yesterday, but it wasn’t yesterday. It took place twenty-five years ago. I officially feel old. Lamont was celebrating its 150th birthday - which is known as a Sesquicentennial. My bike was decked out with patriotic flair and I had a basket full of candy that I liberally tossed to onlookers. The sleepy little village along the river was alive with friends, neighbors and many out-of- towners. It was a good day. Tomorrow {Saturday} will mark Lamont’s 175th birthday. This time I’ll be one of many onlookers {camera in hand} as my nephews make their way around the boulevard. Oh, and yes, they’ve been instructed to throw Aunt Dana handfuls of candy. :)

East Meets West

My nephews were very intrigued with our recent guest from China. Harry kindly entertained them by writing their names in Chinese Characters. They even learned a little Mandarin. Noah {in purple} presented his new friend with a picture he drew of the Great Wall.
