Post-Op

Last week was a blur, the event’s hazy. Life seemed to move in slow-motion. Mr. Baker had surgery. Yes, the dreaded “s” word. The Baker’s avoid doctors, hospitals and anything associated with doctors and hospitals at almost all costs. We Google WebMD and self-diagnose. But not this time. This time we made an appointment and kept it. We trotted, well with a ruptured Achilles it’d be more like hobbled, or scuffed, our way to the hospital. With five days post-op, we’re now on the long road to recovery. Wish us luck! :)

Backyard BBQ

Michiganders don't let a little snow and teeth chattering temps get in the way of a cookout. Uh-uh, no way. The kids barely noticed the marshmallows were rock-hard and the sodas slushy. You know you've got good friends when you invite em' to sit around a campfire in mid-February and they show up with a dish-to-pass and a smile.

Daffodil-ly

I know its February. And by the way, when did that happen? I know a snow-storm is looming. I know the icy, cold weather is far from over. Yes. I get it. Even so, when this little blossom jumped into my cart, I simply couldn’t resist.

Flashback

Snow Bunnies; similar to Pool Honeys only we’re sporting snow suits rather than swim suits. The year is 1985 and that’s my sister, me and our neighbor Melinda.

A Recent Conversation

Jacob: "I sharpened my teeth last night."
Aunt Dana: "Oh yeah, how’d you do that?"
Jacob: (Proceeds to grind his teeth)
Aunt Dana: (Really should’ve seen that coming)

Happy Thursday. :)

Topsy-Turvy

That’s how the world around me has been feeling lately. Earthquakes, the unexpected illness of a friend, a family member’s loss…the list could continue but I’m sure you get the idea. There’s a perfect balance, I know, and at times like this I try to remain focused on the absolutes. Amidst the chaos and the unknown, lies the organized and established.
