I remember this parade like it was yesterday, but it wasn’t yesterday. It took place twenty-five years ago. I officially feel old. Lamont was celebrating its 150th birthday - which is known as a Sesquicentennial. My bike was decked out with patriotic flair and I had a basket full of candy that I liberally tossed to onlookers. The sleepy little village along the river was alive with friends, neighbors and many out-of- towners. It was a good day. Tomorrow {Saturday} will mark Lamont’s 175th birthday. This time I’ll be one of many onlookers {camera in hand} as my nephews make their way around the boulevard. Oh, and yes, they’ve been instructed to throw Aunt Dana handfuls of candy. :)Friday, May 21, 2010
